Calamari Batter Recipe Cornstarch

This calamari batter recipe is made with cornstarch and flour for delicious crisp calamari. Our calamari recipe is easy to prepare using frozen squid resulting in great calamari that will melt in your mouth.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 bag frozen squid rings ( 450 grams)
- 3/4 cup of flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup of cornstarch
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup almond milk or milk
- 1/4 cup of buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2-3 cups of canola or corn oil for frying
- Lemon wedges for serving
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Wash and add the squid to a medium-size bowl, then add the almond milk and buttermilk, and let it soak for 45-60 minutes.
- Add the dry ingredients into another bowl and mix together.
- Add the oil to a deep frying pan and heat over medium-high.
- Coat the squid into the flour mixture, if you want a thicker crust then dip again into milk and flour mixture.
- Place floured squid into a deep fryer and fry each one for about 3-4 minutes or until the squid is light golden in color.
- With a slotted spoon, removed the cooked calamari and place onto a plate lined with paper towels.
- Repeat until all the calamari is fried.
- Serve with sliced lemon and your favorite seafood sauce.
