A delicious easy calamari recipe made with flour, cornstarch, milk, buttermilk and spices.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bag frozen squid rings 450 grams
  • 3/4 cup of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup almond milk or milk
  • 1/4 cup of buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2-3 cups of canola or corn oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions
 

  • Wash and add the squid to a medium-size bowl, then add the almond milk and buttermilk and let it soak for 45-60 minutes.
  • Add the dry ingredients into another bowl and mix together.
  • Add the oil to a deep frying pan and heat over medium-high.
  • Coat the squid into the flour mixture, if you want a thicker crust then dip again into milk and flour mixture.
  • Place floured squid into a deep fryer and fry each one for about 3-4 minutes or until the squid is light golden in color.
  • With a slotted spoon, removed the cooked calamari and place onto a plate lined with paper towels.
  • Repeat until all the calamari is fried.
  • Serve with sliced lemon and your favorite seafood sauce.
